Put Him First

Now the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

2“Go and proclaim in the hearing of Jerusalem that this is what the LORD says:

‘I remember the devotion of your youth,

your love as a bride,

how you followed Me in the wilderness,

in a land not sown.

3Israel was holy to the LORD,

the firstfruits of His harvest.

All who devoured her

found themselves guilty;

disaster came upon them,’ ”

declares the LORD.

4Hear the word of the LORD, O house of Jacob, and all you families of the house of Israel.

5This is what the LORD says:

“What fault did your fathers find in Me

that they strayed so far from Me,

and followed worthless idols,

and became worthless themselves?

This scripture we have here is so deep because God is reminding us that we con’t just worship Him in the bad times because we need Him, we have to fellowship with God daily. We can not just use God to fit our needs and then when He serves no purpose in our lives we just put him on the back burner.

When we go through hardships in our lives we tend to lean on God the most, we’re at church every Sunday, we pray every chance we get, we try to make deals with God hoping that’s going move him, we worship and listen to gospel music like it’s going out of style. However when God gives us the very thing we need the most we tend to forget about Him. We can not have it both ways, we either serve Him or we don’t and God wants to know can we serve Him through the good and the bad.

Knowing that God makes the statement “I remember the devotion of your youth, your love as a bride, how you followed Me in the wilderness, in a land not sown.” Let’s me know that at one point the Israelites were strong in their faith and relationship with God but they stopped once they got what they needed.

Don’t give up on God cause He hasn’t given up on you and don’t just throw in the towel because He gave you what you wanted because trust me there will be wayyy more times that you need to call on Jesus.
